The International Federation of Manufacturers and Associations of Pharmaceutical Products (IFPMA) recently published two reports that contribute to research, development, implementation and dissemination of information on vaccines and immunization -essential topics in the improvement of global health.
One of them is The complex journey of a vaccine, a report dealing with the process of developing a new vaccine which requires 10 years at least. There are three important factors in this process: the complexities of vaccine development, such as time, studies and resources; the globalized clinical progress, that is, data from different regions for the corresponding regulatory approval; and divergent regulatory requirements, which refer to these significant variations between regions and that lead to significant delays in the processes.
On the other hand, report Implementing a Life-Course Approach to Immunization discusses an analysis of international implementation policies and practices in different countries: Brazil, Australia, France, Japan, United Kingdom and United States, taking different factors into account such as political context, social context, lifestyle, etc., which can influence access, implementation or impact of studies.
