FIFARMA joins dialogue on regulatory sciences and stakeholder collaboration in Latin America
On June 24, FIFARMA joined the webinar “How Regulatory Sciences and Stakeholder Collaboration could improve Access to Medical Innovation and Public Health ~ Perspectives for Latin America”. Organized by the IFAPP Academy, this webinar is part of the “Conversations with the Academy” series, and had the intention to explore recent activities in Latam that offer opportunities to improve access to next-generation pharmaceuticals.
After introductory considerations on the evolving healthcare scenario in the region by Silvia Bendiner (Wessx), invited speakers representing academia (Dr Lawrence Liberti, Temple University), regulatory authority (Miriam Rosales, COFEPRIS Mexico), and industry (Cammilla Gomes, FIFARMA) presented their perspectives on how innovation is optimizing the Latam regulatory landscape, the links between Reliance and Innovation in promoting access to new medical products, and aligning stakeholder partnerships for delivering on the promise of healthcare innovations.
Presentations were followed by discussions that enabled some insights on how global advancements in drug development and regulatory sciences have been affecting the Latin American region, as well as opportunities for collaboration among key stakeholders to promote access within patient communities.
FIFARMA’s presentation stressed our mission – actively promote dialogue within our industry and in close collaboration with other stakeholders to bring value to society by advocating for sustainable health systems. The examples given included the partnership with Cuban regulator CECMED in the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CPP) project, and the efforts to align industry voices in Latin America for a better-coordinated COVID-19 response. FIFARMA also highlighted that building trust and promoting transparency is a key element of Good Regulatory Practices.
The recording of the event is available online.
